WHO WE ARE
ABM – Brazilian Metallurgy, Materials and Mining Association is a non-profit, non-governmental organization whose purpose is to bring individuals, companies, and entities together to take joint actions toward professional development, technical and scientific progress, and innovation in processes, products, and management in their respective areas of expertise.
Since it was founded in 1944, ABM has developed numerous actions to ensure and strengthen companies’ competitiveness through the dissemination of technical and scientific knowledge.
With a core interest in qualifying human resources as a major factor in innovation implementation by organizations, ABM offers a comprehensive documentary and editorial collection, an annual program of events (congresses, seminars, symposia, and workshops), awards, and training courses.
Such activities give rise to hundreds of technical contributions, on top of promoting the exchange of information and fostering relationships among industry professionals, academics, researchers, and students.
ABM members include companies, institutions, universities, and individuals linked to the metallurgy, materials, and mining sectors.

Our History
The Brazilian Metallurgy, Materials and Mining Association (ABM) was founded on October 10, 1944 under the name of Brazilian Metals Association. At the onset of the Brazilian industrialization process, it emerged with the mission of promoting technological exchange and boosting the development of its associate industries.
Over the past seven decades, it has maintained the technical nature that has underlain its creation, modernizing itself and changing the experience of the past into a path for the information economy. Its evolution took place side by side with the massive accumulation of knowledge as an input for the industry’s development.
