Sustainability and Industry 4.0 are among the main themes of the 6th edition of ABM WEEK
Certain themes stand out among the multiplicity of topics that will be addressed in the different events of ABM WEEK, 6th edition, particularly the ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) agenda and the application of Industry 4.0-related innovations in the mining, metals, and materials industries. Sustainability-related issues are expected to be dealt with in virtually all meetings and this matter will be given special attention during the 4th EMECR (International Conference on Energy and Material Efficiency and CO2 Reduction in the Steel Industry 2022), one of the events of the 6th edition of ABM WEEK.
Held for the first time in Brazil, this international conference is part of the ISSI (International Conferences under the International Society of Steel Institutes) calendar and will offer an excellent opportunity for debating the main advances and efforts of academia and industry to make the steel industry more sustainable.
Valdomiro Roman da Silva,ABM’s director of skills developmen, pointed out that the ESG agenda will also be a highlight at the Executives' Forum, which will bring together leaders from major industry players. Challenges to internalizing ESG principles and opportunities arising from their adoption will be among the topics to be addressed.
“We are conducting a survey on the ESG agenda among organizations associated with ABM, the results of which will support the discussion at the Forum,” Roman da Silva explains.Industry 4.0 was a core topic at the 5th edition of ABM WEEK in 2019 and was addressed during several events. This year, technological innovations commonly associated with it – such as Artificial Intelligence and Big Data – are expected to be brought up in a decentralized manner, Roman da Silva adds.
“Industry 4.0 is a permanent subject and an integral part of corporate management nowadays. The use of data and analytics in the management of safety in steel shops will certainly be debated,” he comments.
In this edition, opportunities for discussing new technologies will be enhanced through Tech Talks – companies will describe their innovations in 15-minute presentations during coffee breaks – and Startup Talks, in which startups will present their businesses and solutions.
“In the Technological Arena, which will host these conversations, Industry 4.0-related topics will be frequently addressed,” says Roman da Silva.
